JIS Fobissea Invitational Student Golf Tournament, January 2012

Dear Principals,

Harrow International School, Bangkok, has hosted a Fobissea Invitational Student Golf Tournament for the last two years and we believe that it is important that other schools take responsibility for hosting this annual golf tournament.  As such, we would like to invite your school to a JIS Fobissea Invitational Student Golf Tournament to be held in Brunei on Saturday 28^th and Sunday 29^th January 2012.

There are 3 high quality golf courses in Brunei.  We expect the tournament to take place at the Empire Golf and Country Club, but may also use Royal Brunei Airlines Golf Club or Jerudong Park Golf and Country Club as alternative golf courses.

We would look for student golfers and accompanying staff to stay at the Empire Hotel and to seek a ‘Stay and Play’ golf package.  We will aim to confirm all the rates for the golf tournament as soon as we have an idea of the interest in this tournament.  Full details of costs and payment deadlines will be given as soon as we know we have sufficient numbers for the tournament to take place.  Naturally, we would want to keep costs to a minimum, similar to the rates charged for the Bangkok tournament.

Flights to and from Brunei would need to be arranged by the individual schools, but we would provide buses to transport students from the airport to the hotel, and to the golf course and other sights in Brunei during their free time.

The tournament formats would most likely be Individual Gross and Nett Strokeplay Tournaments and a Combined Gross Strokeplay Tournament for the team prizes.  Student golfers would not need to have official handicaps from golf clubs, but the handicaps would have to be verified by the school coaches.  We can also arrange a social staff competition for the coaches.  Please be aware that the golf courses in Brunei are ‘buggy’ courses which means that the older golfers (16+) would drive the carts with the younger golfers as passengers.
