Description of school:
The British School Manila (BSM), established in 1976, is a non-profit making international school which provides a high quality British education to children of all nationalities between the ages of 3 and 18.   The British School prides itself on excellent results - (in National Curriculum tests and G.C.S.E. results the school far exceeds UK averages) and the main focus is on the development of the whole child in partnership with parents. With 42 different nationalities, the school is truly multicultural. The school's enthusiastic and highly qualified staff composed of UK or Commonwealth trained teachers, ensure that British traditions and values are maintained. Small classes establish and maintain the close teacher and pupil relationships so vital to children's progress.  The British School Manila is a member of the Federation of British International Schools in South and East Asia (FOBISSEA), the Council of International Schools (CIS), the Council of British Independent Schools in the European Communities (COBISEC) and the Incorporated Association of Preparatory Schools (IAPS), and is an IB world school.
Classes are limited in size, with a maximum of 25 in nursery, 18 in reception, 15 in IB and 20 throughout the rest of the school. These small classes enable teachers to use differentiated teaching strategies, which encourage each child to develop at their own pace. Teachers are highly qualified and enthusiastic expatriates, holding British or equivalent teaching qualifications. The school provides the best of the UK National Curriculum preparing children for National Curriculum tests, GCSE, the UK Common Entrance Examinations (if requested), and IB.  There is a strong emphasis on encouraging children to become better learners. Self discipline, high standards and expectations are promoted within a family atmosphere. This provides a stimulating environment for children of all nationalities.  BSM offers fifteen years of education. At our foundation stage, we have the nursery and reception classes, while the formal education begins at aged five in year 1. At age 16, students take GCSE exams and then proceed to the two year International Baccalaureate programme.

Additional Programs Offered

A range of support structures are utilised for students with specific learning needs as well as students who need support for gaps in their learning.
