Description of school International School Brunei is a non-profit co-educational day and boarding school offering an English medium education to children aged between 2 and 18 years, representing 36 nationalities. The curriculum is based on the English National Curriculum to 16 years with some adaptation to suit local conditions. The Primary school offers a core curriculum with specialist teachers for PE, Malay, French, SEN and ESL, Music and ICT. The Secondary section offers a range of subjects leading to the IGCSE and GCSE. An IB Diploma programme commenced in September 2001.
The school is purpose-built and occupies a pleasant five-acre site within 10 minutes' drive of the city centre. Physical facilities include classrooms, specialist rooms for science, technology, art, ESL, language, mathematics special needs, music, three computer suites and two well-stocked libraries. All rooms are fully air-conditioned. There is soccer pitch, basketball court, a swimming pool. Plans are being developed to move to a new purpose-built site within the next few years.
The school year runs from mid August to early July. There is a very extensive after-school Clubs programme which is open to students and members of the community. The school is an aspiring eco school and focus for the expatriate community. There are waiting lists in many years and parents are advised to register their children as soon as possible. The School opened a small home-style International Residence facility in August 2007 to cater for overseas boarders.
ISB opened an annex primary school in Kuala Belait in 2006. The annex currently caters from Pre-Kindy to Year 4.
