2011 FOBISSEA Business Managers' / Bursars' Conference
In September 2011, the Taipei European School hosted the FOBISSEA Business Managers' / Bursars' Conference, which was attended by 23 delegates from 18 member schools. People from increasingly diverse school administrative positions, encompassing finance, HR, business and operations management and a variety of other roles, are now taking this annual opportunity to develop their professional knowledge and exchange ideas and initiatives with colleagues.
The keynote speech from Mr. Freddie Hoeglund, CEO of the European Chamber of Commerce in Taipei, provided fascinating insights into the role that the ECCT and the European business community plays in its host country and described the ECCT’s close and mutually beneficial relationship the ECCT has with the Taipei European School (TES). The following day, Steve Parker from the Community Services Center developed on the theme of links between school and community with his speech,"Integration of School and Community: Building Locally,Thinking Internationally". Further fascinating presentations on earthquake preparedness by TES governor Mike Humphrey and "Trends and Strategies for Insurance Cost Control' by Rob McIntyre from AETNA International rounded off the main events of the day.
In September 2012, the conference will move to Dulwuch College, Suzhou, where participants are confident it will continue going from strength to strength.
